Situated just south of Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key is located in Manatee and Sarasota Counties. You can access St. Armands Circle to the south of Longboat Key.
Longboat Key, is known for it’s quiet, 12 miles of pristine beaches, beautiful beachfront estates and luxury resorts. In the 1920’s John Ringling bought hundreds of acres on the south end of Longboat Key and planted Australian pine trees along Ringling Boulevard (now Gulf of Mexico Drive) from one end of the island to the other.
Longboat Key, is the only barrier island off the coast of Sarasota, with a golf course. You will also find tennis resorts and kayak trails in Longboat. Ride your bike or go for a walk along the expansive sidewalks that run almost the entire length of the island. Longboat Key’s commercial areas are nestled back from Gulf of Mexico Drive and can be hard to spot when driving. But you will find several fine and casual dining restaurants, many with outdoor areas, a grocery store and retail shops.
Towards the south end of the island, there are a few high rise condo buildings along the Gulf of Mexico adjacent to the golf course that have spectacular views from the balconies. Almost all the island of Longboat Key has been developed and most of the real estate consists of condos, single family homes located in subdivisions and waterfront estates. If you are looking for a quiet get away just minutes from art and shopping, consider Longboat Key.
